Hallowed be Thy Name Part 1

The title of this write-up is taken from the adoration aspect of the of Lord’s Prayer. The word for ‘Hallowed’ in Greek is ‘hagiazo’, which in common use means ‘to make clean’. However, in the ‘Lord’s Prayer’ it is used in a very special sense with reference to His holiness. Of all God’s innumerable attributes, let us now endeavor to understand this attribute—His holiness, in order to glorify His name better.

The Greek word ‘hagiazo’ (verb) and its noun form ‘hagiamos’ both express the holiness of God very specially. It can be taken to mean, ‘You only Lord, can possess that attribute, that extraordinary and special holiness, and none else; therefore, we say, “hallowed be Thy name.”’

The Burning Bush

Every redeemed person is a rare treasure is an earthen vessel. This, like many other spiritual truths is a mystery. We need the power of the Holy Spirit to understand this truth.

Paradoxes
The Godhead—where we say that God is one but that God operates as three persons—itself is a mystery. There are innumerable mysteries and apparently self-contradictory matters in the spiritual realm. We sing in one of the songs, “Make me a captive Lord and then I shall be free.” This line sounds rather contradictory and yet it is a fact. Another apparent paradox is the fact that I have to die to my flesh in order to live eternally. In this meditation, we are going to consider yet another interesting paradox and learn some lessons from it.

Moses and the Burning Bush
This paradoxical event is mentioned in Ex 3:2 where the “bush burned with fire, but the bush was not consumed.”

Striving toward heaven Part 2

In this second and final part of this meditation, we will try and understand the relevance of the Holy Spirit indwelling in people who are walking on the heavenward path. We will also be looking briefly at what the Lord requires of them on this path.
