Nature of the path of sanctification

November 9, 2007

(GB Message)

Satan constantly attempts to prevent believers from reaching the heavenly kingdom offered by Lord Jesus Christ. The magnitude of his venomous mischief in this matter is unimaginable. That is why the word of God has warned believers time again about this danger. The enemy’s various attributes described in scripture such as “murderer” (Jn 8: 44), “liar” (Jn 8: 44), “enemy” (Mt 13: 25, 39), “devourer” and “adversary of the believer” (1 Pet 5: 8), an “accuser” (Rev 12: 1o), and many more are sufficient evidence to understand how venomous he is.

Poignant situations

August 23, 2007

(GB Message)

Introspection

When I look back, I realize that I have lived a life so rich, so varied, and so pleasant, of course with occasional unpleasantness. I am filled with gratitude for the abundant mercy of God and praise Him. I am now quite busy giving the final touches to my various teachings, which I must do prior to meeting the Lord, who will also, I am sure, be equally eager to meet me because this has been a life given by Him to me.

Strangely, I understand that I am old only when I look at my face in the mirror.

Macro and micro ministry

August 20, 2007

(GB Message)

Over the years, we have added some original words and phrases to our vocabulary in EBA for better understanding of doctrinal truths. Vocabulary develops as thoughts and subjects develop. We need not be apologetic about it. In the Oxford and Webster’s dictionaries, thousands of new words are added year after year. Such additions are considered to be the crown and glory of any etymological book. If others are interested in knowing what our special phrases mean, we shall gladly explain. We are at liberty to use little phrases, anecdotes, or parables in order to explain biblical doctrine.

I wish here to explain the the terms ‘macro ministry’ and ‘micro ministry’ that I sometimes use.

Sabaiyum Peruganum

August 17, 2007

[Feeling that Tamil hymns and lyrics, generally, do not have the depth that English hymns have, GB has, for the EBA church hymnal, identified some good hymns, translated many hymns and choruses from English, and composed some lyrics. He has recorded the accompaniment for all the songs in the hymnal, and these are available in MP3 format. All recordings have been done at home using very simple equipment. These songs may not be copied without permission.]

Song composed by Gnana Bhaktamitran.

(Hymn 129 in our hymnal)

Here is a recording of this song Sabaiyum Peruganum sung by Prathiba and Amala and accompanied by GB himself.

Church to clear confusion and train

July 8, 2007

(GB Message)

Church is where confusions are cleared

A confused person may be:

  • So confused that he is not aware that he is confused
  • So used to it that it does not occur to him to seek any solution from it
  • Driven to seek a solution

Rather than dwelling on the first two cases and get confused ourselves, let us deal with the third one; at least there is a search involved in it.

Principle of the Lord’s Supper

July 3, 2007

(GB Message)

Bearing in mind the seven points noted below is important if we must understand the principle of the Lord’s Supper and partake of it meaningfully and biblically. Believers generally are familiar with every one of these points but are liable to overlook them because of their flesh (Gk: sarkikos). Remember that if we are not alert, we give Satan and the evil forces the upper hand. These evil forces are ever antagonistic to spiritual people. Satan has caused so many churches to become spiritually lethargic and stagnate. On the other hand, living and dynamic believers and churches with such members survive.
“for the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law” Gal 5:17-18.

Counterfeit churches Bending Circumstances

June 24, 2007

(GB Message)

Glad to note that you have two visitors in your congregation today. I am quite aware of the fact that my sermons are often hard and cutting as against encouraging sermons based on texts like, “If God be with us, who can be against us?” Honestly I feel that only a hireling or an agent of the devil can keep preaching comforting sermons like that.

I enjoy fairly good health. This is because medical specialists constantly take particular care of the areas of my body that are sick, giving me timely medicines; I too have to meet them periodically for routine medical checkups. I prefer to have a physician care for my physical well being than people who may want to encourage me by commenting on how well I look, how strong my limbs are, and how well I digest my food.

True and counterfeit churches

June 17, 2007

(GB Message)

We learned how Satan has already devoured many churches. He is like a man-eater having tasted the blood of members of dead churches and so he is keen to capture many more. With the experience that he has gained, he runs pseudo churches parallel to genuine churches. One thing is certain, Satan has no power whatsoever over living churches.

We may wonder what is a live church and how they may be identified.

Born of Water and Spirit Part 2

June 13, 2007

(GB Message)

A compendium for the guidance of those who have the anointing for the preaching of the Gospel of Lord Jesus

Post-baptism teaching

As far as this church is concerned, the word “Baptism” should convey the following meanings.

  • The ritual in which the person is immersed in water in the name of Lord Jesus.
  • The theological or doctrinal meaning of the word
  • The word when used as a code for the entire doctrinal teaching concerning salvation or until the “born-again” stage (recently we had several sessions on this subject that totalled 12 hours of teaching)

By ‘post-baptism’ teaching, I refer to teaching that the believer requires after he is born again.
